Our Weekly Stowe Potato Blog Post

Stephen Stowe - Friday, August 07, 2009
There are cases of blight showing up in Potato Fields in the Northeast. Excessive rain have the Potato Farmers spraying every 5 days to prevent any further spread of the blight. With most of our Garden Nurseries and trade not using a spray program, this can add to the spreading of the blight.  With the economy the way it is, people tend to have Gardens,  however they do not realize the danger they can cause to our larger agricultural growers not instituting a spray program.

On another note, some early digging began in Upstate New York today.  The harvested potatoes were of the Atlantic variety going to a Potato Chip Processor.  Also, indications are that digging in Massachusetts is occurring.
